![]() Mark Howard Mark Howard joined Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club in the year 2020 as coaching director for road and track racing.
When asked how he first got starated in bicycle racing, he responded, "I started racing back in 1982 when my father was a sheep farmer and when he sold the farm he said I now need something to do, as I had two older brothers that had already began racing cycling was the natural choice. achievement: In 2007 I moved to Belgium to become a Race Team Mechanic. This was a dream job, I was never really one to travel but working on bikes and going to races was the next best thing to being a pro rider. I was able to work with some great Sport Director names in cycling like Eric Vanderaerden, Nico Mattan, Rudy Penvenage, Laurenzo La Page and Morten Hegreberg. I got to go to some fantastic races and travel all over Europe." "Through working with Morten and the Norwegian Continental team I was able to go to the 2010 World Road Championships and work as mechanic for the National Worlds team, including Thor Hushovd, Alexander Kristoff and Edvald Boasson Hagen. The highlight was Hushovd winning the title in my home town of Melbourne." "Pretty much cycling has been my life since I started. I work as a shop mechanic at Mikes Bikes in Los Gatos. Outside of cycling I love to spend time with my wife Lindsay and our two kids Thomas and Isabelle. comments: I manage the road/track race team and would like to help other get into racing. I race cyclocross but I am a long time road/track racer and I enjoy the strategies and tactics of it and like to pass on my knowledge to new racers to help them enjoy and get the most out of their racing without taking it too seriously, just enjoy the racing." |
