Andrew Joined LGBRC in 2020 as a junior mountain bike racer. He says, "I initially started mountain biking with friends back in middle school as a purely recreational activity, reserved for weekends. However, during my junior year, I decided to join my local high school XC MTB team (Black Mountain Composite). I immediately bought myself a fast hardtail to replace my long-travel enduro bike and started riding a bunch! I then met Ben Dodge through the team, and after going on a couple of his "epic rides," I really started to fall in love with the sport. As a result, I've been training and racing seriously since the fall of 2019."
We asked him what his cycling achievements are so far. He responded, "Although I yet to have all that many opportunities to race (Covid), over the past few months, I got to test myself at a few varsity level races—I placed in the top half of the field in all races. Also noteworthy—I completed a half-Everest with Ben Dodge on Kennedy trail last fall, and more recently, I did a century on my mountain bike."
"I'm currently a senior at Cupertino High School and will be graduating this June. I then plan to attend the University of San Fransico this fall to study economics and computer science and continue riding bikes."
